course MTH 158

See my notes, which will hopefully help a bit. However you're having difficulties here. I need a little more information so I can try to help you over this 'hump'.

Your work has been received. Please scroll through the document to see any inserted notes (inserted at the appropriate place in the document, in boldface) and a note at the end. The note at the end of the file will confirm that the file has been reviewed; be sure to read that note. If there is no note at the end, notify the instructor through the Submit Work form, and include the date of the posting to your access page.

Can you give me a synopsis of your work on Problems 6, 10, 12 and 18? Include a short description of each problem, and the steps you took in solving each.

It would be best if you would email this information as well as submitting it through the form. That way I'll be able to respond as quickly as possible.

This is the notes at the bottom of my portfolio. First I am not certain how to view your notes. Also, Below are problems 6, 10, 12 and 18 from C-1 SEC-1-1 PAGE 93-94 like you requested.

6) An equation of the form ax +b =0is called a (n) ___________equation or a (n) _________ equation?

ANSWER- An equation of the form ax +b =0is called a linear equation or a one variable equation.

10) 6x = -24

ANSWER-I would divide –24 by 6 to get x = -4 that was simple except I was under the impression that I should have a positive answer.

12) 6x + 18 = 0

ANSWER-here I would subtract 18 from both sides. 6x + 18 (-18) = 0 (-18) = 6x = -18

Then I would divide –18 by 6 to get x = -3

18) 2x + 9 = 5x

ANSWER- first I subtract 2x from both sides to get 9 = 3x. then reveres to make easy 3x = 9.

Finally I divide 9 by 3 to get x = 3.

I need to take the test and continue to complete my work. My plan is to go to vhcc Monday and schedule to meet with a tutor as often as possible and then work double time until I am ahead. If any pert of this plan is flawed pleas correct me. Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation.

I don't see anything wrong with your work here. Your explanations were very clear and were correct. The solution to 6x = -24 is indeed -4. Not sure why you thought it should be positive--maybe confusing this with the equation 6x - 24 = 0? However you did the steps correctly and got the correct solution, which is very good.

When you find that you aren't getting answers on odd-numbered problems that match with the book's answers (in the back), and if your tutor is not available or you need alternative feedback, it's a good time to submit a document like this, with either even- or -odd-numbered problems, or both, of which you aren't sure. I'm always glad to respond.
