The problem:
Answer the following:
•How accurately do you think you can measure the time between two events using the TIMER program?
I think that efficiency of the TIMER program would vary with each experiment. For example, if the experiment were calculating very short periods of time, then it would be less accurate than, for example, something that must take longer to be timed.
answer/question/discussion:
•What is the shortest time interval you think you would be able to measure with reasonable accuracy?
The TIMER program would probably be accurate when counting whole seconds. This is my estimate because in the pendulum experiment, the longer pendulum times (about 2 seconds) were much more accurate than the shorter pendulum times (less than a second).
answer/question/discussion:
•How does the percent error in timing intervals change as the time between the events gets smaller?
The percent error increases as the time intervals decrease because when the time gets more condensed, it is more difficult for human error to occur and for other things to happen to decrease the efficiency.
answer/question/discussion:
•How accurately are you able to measure the positions of the ball and the pendulum in the initial video?
It was very difficult to accurately measure the positions of the ball and pendulum in the initial video because it went by so quickly. However, it was more effective, for me, to measure by observation. I was able to see if the ball rolled faster or slower than the pendulum.
