I apologize on the last 2 quizzes I used superscript without thinking and just noticed it shows up as a regular 2 during submissions. I fixed it on this submission.

A projectile leaves the edge of a table and, while traveling horizontally at a constant 37 cm/s, falls freely a distance of 149 cm to the floor. If its vertical acceleration is 980 cm/s2, how long does it take to fall and how far does it travel in the horizontal direction during the fall?

vf^2 = v0^2 + 2 a ‘ds

vf = +- sqrt ( v0^2 + 2 a ‘ds)

vf = +- sqrt ( (0 cm/s)^2 + 2 * 980 cm/s^2 * 149 cm)

vf = +- sqrt ( 292040 cm^2 / s^2)

vf = +-540 cm/s.

vA = (0cm/s + 540cm/s) / 2

vA = 540 cm/s / 2

vA = 270 cm/s

‘dt = ‘ds / vA

‘dt = 149cm / 270cm/s

‘dt = .55 s

37 cm/s * .55 s = 19.25 meter
