RESPONSE -->

The difference in the two problems is the fact that one problem has parenthesis. The parenthesis changes the order of operations. In the first problem division comes first, then addition. In the second problem each solution is made in the parenthesis and then divided.

The answer to the first problem is 5 and the second problem is 0.

`q003. What is the numerator of the fraction in the expression x - 3 / [ (2x-5)^2 * 3x + 1 ] - 2 + 7x? What is the denominator? What do you get when you evaluate the expression for x = 2?

......!!!!!!!!...................................

RESPONSE -->

The numerator is -1 and the denominator is 19. The order of operations begins in the parenthesis in the brackets. Multiply 2x2 and then subract 5 which is -1. -1 x -1 is 1. Multiply 3x2, which is 6 and add that to 1. 1x7 equals 7. Outside the brackets multiply 7x2, whcich is 14 and then add -2 which is 12. 7=12 equals 19. 19 is the denominator. 2-3, which equals 1 is the numerator. The answer is -.0526315
