** Your average time interval for 20 time intervals **
0.1375
I dtermined the average by taking the first given number at line 20 from the timer and subtracting the starting number. Next, I divided by 20.
** Your frequency distribution for the 20 time intervals (interval, number of times it was observed) **
.125, 3
.140625, 11
.15625, 6
.171875, 1
** Your general comment to this point **
** Why did you observe only certain time intervals? **
Maybe the timer is set to round up to set numbers versus always printing numbers exactly as they were no matter how long.
I think that as long as the timer is designed to consistently round numbers (if that's what they do) , then results/data when using the time are valid.
** What did you see when you looked at the differences between time successive time intervals? **
The numbers that are in the last column also repeat consistently. I think this shows that this is how the timer was designed to represent data.
** Your time intervals for 7 complete breaths: **
3.484375
5.703125
6.140625
6.53125
6.625
6.875
6.8125
7.046875
8.734375
** Your general comment to this point: **
** Why did you rarely, if ever, observe that same time interval twice? **
I think there is a difference between the first set of results and now because the first time we were to click as fast as we could versus a more relaxed atmosphere the second time.
When you are in the mindset to do something very fast, you develop a pattern and may repeat. If you are in a more relaxed atmosphere (taking deep breaths) your actions are not always consistent.
** Do you think this program is accurate to .1 or .01 ... **
I think statement D is accurate, primarily because of seeing the difference in timing results from the first experiment to the second. If I had answered this question after the first experiment, my answer may not have been the same.
