We have a coil of wire with both ends exposed and a wire lead attached to each side. A large metal bolt was put through the center of the coil of wire. A battery was then attached to each lead coming from the coil of wire. The wire, battery, bolt combo was then placed close to a compass (facing North). The compass needle moved from pointing North to pointing South (180 degrees).

I then placed the large bolt in the same place as before and the needle then pointed to North East (1/4 of the distance) as it did with the coil of wire and battery.

Note: I made sure the wire, battery, and bolt was a distance away from the compass so it wouldn't interact until I wanted to see the interaction.

I also dangled a thin piece of aluminum strip in front of the wire, battery, bolt combo so record an interaction. I could not get an interaction that I could see with my eyes.
