A steel ball of mass 110 grams moves with a speed of 30 cm / second around a circle of radius 20 cm.
What are the magnitude and direction of the centripetal acceleration of the ball?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
magnitude of acceleration: v^2/r = (.3 m/s)^2 / .2 m = .09 m^2/s^2 / .2 m = .45 m/s^2
Direction: 360 degrees because it's going around in a circle?

What is the magnitude and direction of the centripetal force required to keep it moving around this circle?
answer/question/discussion: ->->->->->->->->->->->-> :
Magnitude of force: m * a = .11 kg * .45 m/s^2 = .0495 N
Direction: 360 degrees because it's going around in a circle?

The angle at different points around the circle could be anything from 0 to 360 degrees.
However in any case the centripetal acceleration is toward the center of the circle.
