Investigate what happens when you vary the a parameter, and give a brief description of what you see and how it is related to what you are learning in Modeling Project 1.The closer the number is to zero the wider the parabola gets and the further the number gets from zero the narrower the parabola gets. Half of the parabola looks like our depth vs. time graph.

Now see what happens when you vary the b parameter, and once more give a brief description and see if you can relate it to what you have done in Modeling Project 1.

When moving the b parameter it shows that it changes the parabolas y-intercept while moving the parabola down to the left or down to the right depending on the number.

If you increase the b parameter, does the graph move to the right or the left? Does it move up or down? Does either answer depend on the value of the a parameter?

The only thing the a parameter decides is if the parabola opens up or down. The movement of the b parameter is always in a downward action but when the number is positive it moves it left and when the number is negative it moves the parabola right.

If you want to move the vertex to a specific point, can you figure out in advance how much to change the b and c parameters, or are there confounding factors that confuse the process?

To move the vertex up or down its simple increase the c parameter to move it up or decrease it to move it down. If it needs to be moved left or right then add parenthesis around the problem and add/subtract whatever number is desired to move it left to right. To move left add a number on the outside of the parenthesis and to move right subtract the number.
