Quiz procedure

Hi Prof. Smith,
I want to make sure I understand the procedure for taking the first quiz.
As I understand it, the quiz is assigned as part of Assignment 10, but covers the material for Assignments 1-8. That means it should be taken during the current academic week (Feb 11-Feb 17), correct?
@&
This week or next week would be fine.

I have not worked through Assignment 9 yet, but I may need to take the quiz first, because I have to travel for work beginning Saturday. So I just wanted to make sure I won't need to have mastered the material for Assignment 9 when I go to take the quiz.
@&
You should be well prepared for the Major Quiz, having completed through Asst 8.

When I go to the testing center in the library, I just tell them I'm taking the first major quiz for Phy 231, and then we go together to print the quiz? Or will they have the instructions there and print it for me?
@&
They will probably print it out for you right there. I can't tell you exactly what they will do, but if you ask for that test they will get one for you promptly.

Finally, I have a friend sending me a graphing calculator, but it hasn't arrived yet. Do you recommend that I purchase a scientific calculator for this quiz? I've occasionally needed to use one online, but if I can get by with my pocket calculator for this quiz, that would be good to know.
@&
The Learning Lab does have calculators they can loan my students, so if your pocket calculator doesn't do everything you need (it probably will) you can get one from them.

Thank you for your help!

Good luck on the test. I expect you'll do very well. Do be sure to read the problems carefully.
