course Phy 241
8-27 8
So far in learning and reading through the introduction of Phy 241-40 I have read the brief initial overview and the instructors introduction. I have also found my login information and requested/received my access code.
I am a recent graduate of Norfolk State University with a BS degree in Business. I have since developed type 1 diabetes and have become fascinated with science. I have decided to go back to school and am currently trying to get into med school. In doing so, I am taking the prerequisite courses to align myself for med school. I am currently taking chemistry, physics, and biology, and will also have to take organic chemistry. I am from and still live in Suffolk, Va. where I am married with a two year old son. I am currently an outside salesman with Noland Company, where I sell plumbing/ heating and air supplies to contractors and developers. I was on a baseball scholarship at Norfolk State University. My goals for this class are to learn and become an expert in science so that I can be a Dr. My interests in medicine are abundant, but I think I will want to either be an endocrinologist or go into sports medicine. I am really looking forward to learning and having fun in this class. I look forward to working with all of you!
Please post this in a place accessible for all students."

Excellent goals, and I hope to help you move further toward them.
Do be sure you have the calculus prerequisite for this course, and be aware that most students find that it takes about 180 hours per semester to succeed in a physics course.
Also I'm not sure that a calculus-based physics course is necessary for a pre-med student. Some med schools probably prefer the calculus-based course, but historically most have been satisfied with the Physics 201-202 sequence. I've taught the Kaplan MCAT prep course in physics, and there's no calculus-based content.
