Question: `q001. If you are earning money at the rate of 8 dollars / hour and work for 4 hours, how much money do you make during this time? Answer in such a way as to explain your reasoning as fully as possible. A solution to this problem appears several lines below, but enter your own solution before you look at the given solution.YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Your solution: (type in your solution starting in the next line)

At an hourly rate of $8/hour if you work 4 hours then you earn $32.00. This conclusion is made by multiplying the hourly rate (a) by the hours worked (b).

A*b= E (earned wages)

$8 * 4hours = $32

Question: `q002. If you work 12 hours and earn $168, then at what rate, in dollars / hour, were you making money?

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Your solution: (type in your solution starting in the next line)

If you earn $168 in a 12 hour work period, then you need to find out how many $/hour that you make. To do this you would use the equation E = a * b, where E is the earned wages, “a” represents the hourly rate (what you are trying to find), and “b” represents the number of hours worked. It is shown below.

E= a * b

$168= a * b

In order to do this equation you must divide $168 by “b” to find “a”. This is done like this.

A = $168 / 12 hours

A= $14 / hour

Therefore the answer to the question is that if you earn $168 during a 12 hour work period, then you are making $14/ hour.
