For 30 cycles of the long pendulum, the short one cycled 66 times when swinging under 2 cm. It cycled 65 times when we increased amplitude of the small pendulum to between 5 and 8 centimeters. Or, 30:66 ratio the first time (long cycles to short cycles) and 30:65 ratio the second.

Very good.
The ideal theoretical ratio would be sqrt(44/8.5), about 2.28. Your ratios were 2.20 and 2.17.
This being a real-world situation, it would be interesting to analyze the behavior of a pendulum swinging in air with a slightly flexible support (i.e., you) to see the those factors could explain the differences in the ratios.
Of course the differences could also be due just to experimental uncertainties.
