Assignment 0

course phys202

1.a. I do not believe the discrepancies is due to the timer program.

b. I believe it is in the inconsistency of the human triggering. There is only a range of 23 tenths of a second of which can be due to human error.

c. I do not believe it is due to the object because the surroundings seem to be the same which would be the only factor that might alter the timing.

d. Differences in positioning the object prior to relase may definatley have an effect on the time because it might have to travel further or at a different angle.

e. Any human error seems reasonable. The uncertainty in observing exactely when the object reached the end can definatley be misinterpreated.

2.All answers are the same as the previous question

3.

a. The timer program seems to be constant but incase one can do a couple trials with the program to make sure it is working correctly.

b. One could figure a plan to make sure that one is starting the trigger at the same time, maybe put a peice of tape a little below the start so when the ball touches the tape, one can start the trigger.

c. One could make sure there is constant conditions for each trial. (check the surroundings and equipment)

d. One could mark a spot on the wood plank for were the car should be started from each time.

e. One could do the same with putting a tape at the bottom so one can see more clearly when the car hits the tape to know when to stop the timer. Or there can be two people doing it at the same time to make sure there are no obscure readings.

The instructions for using the 'open' queries are as follows. The instructions have just been edited to indicate that responses should be inserted into a copy of the document, with each response following the question.

"These 'open' queries are to be copied into a word processor or text editor and used just like any query-type program. Your answers should be inserted into a copy of the document, each answer following the question on a new line, as indicated in the document."

You responses on this query, in any case, are very good, and are expressed in such a way as to fully indicate their meaning.
