What are the average acceleration and final velocity of an object which accelerates uniformly from rest, attaining a velocity of 40 cm/sec in 13.6 seconds? How far does the object travel during the 13.6 seconds?Average acceleration = change in velocity / change in time
Ave acc = 40 cm/s / 13.6 s
Ave acc = 2.94 cm
Good, but (cm/s) / s is not cm.
Final velocity = initial velocity + acc(time)
Final vel = 40cm/s + 2.94cm(13.6s)
Final vel = 40cm/s +39.984cm/s
Final vel = 79.984 cm/s
40 cm/s is the velocity attained during the interval. That is the final velocity.
Be sure you understand how to calculate the units. I believe you've answered similar questions about units correctly in the qa's. Let me know if you have questions about that unit calculation.
