The problem:

A ball starts with velocity 4 cm/sec and ends with a velocity of 10 cm/sec.

1. What is your best guess about the ball's average velocity? 7cm/s

2. Without further information, why is this just a guess?

Assuming the velocity increases at a constant rate, then the average velocity should be the average of the initial & final velocities.

3. If it takes 3 seconds to get from the first velocity to the second, then what is your best guess about how far it traveled during that time? 21cm

4. At what average rate did its velocity change with respect to clock time during this interval? 2 cm/s^2. I took the quantity of 10cm/s minus 4cm/s and divided this by 3 seconds to arrive at 2cm/s^2.

20 min.
