Your 'measuring atmospheric pressure' report has been received. Scroll down through the document to see any comments I might have inserted, and my final comment at the end.
** your comment **
** How does the system behave and how does it 'feel'? **
when the bottle is squeezed, water flows through the vertical tube, and the air column in the pressure indicating tube is compressed
** Length of the air column in units of your measuring device: **
i've chosen to use the second largest measuring units for this experiment. the force being applied to the bottle isnt very precise, and to maket he measurements more accountable, i'd like to maximize my precision in the other areas. also, because my air column is long, i wanted to make sure that i had enought room on the measuring device to measure the column itself.
** Your report of the vertical position of the first mark relative to the water surface of the first mark, the length of the air column in units of your selected measuring device, and the two meniscus positions observed with each of your five trials. **

i lined the capped end up to the beginning of the ruler, and counted how many units down the ruler the air column reaced
** Your report of the vertical position of the second mark relative to the water surface of the first mark, the length of the air column in units of your selected measuring device, and the two meniscus positions observed with each of your five trials. **

As the water in the tube rose, the air column shrank

when the water reaches the second column, the air column decreases even further
