The problem:

A ball starts with velocity 4 cm/sec and ends with a velocity of 10 cm/sec.

• What is your best guess about the ball's average velocity?

I would guess that the ball’s average velocity here is 2.5 cm per second.

• Without further information, why is this just a guess?

This would be a guess because I’m not basing my solution on a formula or supported information.

• If it takes 3 seconds to get from the first velocity to the second, then what is your best guess about how far it traveled during that time?

I would then guess that it would probably be traveling at 7.5 cm in the 3 seconds.

• At what average rate did its velocity change with respect to clock time during this interval?

I would guess it was an average rate change of 5 cm in the interval.

All your answers except this last one are correct, though you should have shown how you obtain your answers.

This last answer is not correct.

What is the definition of the average rate of change of velocity with respect to clock time?

Show the details of how you use this definition answer the last question.

It took me about 10-12 minutes to do this.
