course Phy 122

When the particles collide they bounce off each other and move away very slowly. X and Y are inversely proportional; when X goes up Y goes down and when Y goes up X goes down.

After a couple of minutes, the particles seem to come and bunch together, rather than being spread further apart.

I think the X kinetics will be greater.

Mean of X=401.1

Mean of Y=351.1

Yes I think that every time the simulation is run the x axis kinematics will always have a higher average because the particles tend to go in the x direction over the y direction.

These results are consistent with those usually obtained for this experiment. However the difference between the x and y energies is merely a statistical fluctuation; averaged over time neither is more likely to be higher than the other.
