Query1 Assignment Question

I am having a difficulty with the Query 1 Assignment. The questions are asking about a temperature vs. time model but the only model provided in Notes 1-3 is the depth vs. clock time model. What am I to do?

In both cases you are using a quadratic function to model data.
If the model is depth vs. time then if y stands for depth the form of your model will be
y = a t^2 + b t + c.
If the model is temperature vs. time then you could let y stand for temperature and use the same model, or you could use T for temperature so that
T = a t^2 + b t + c,
where T stands for temperature and t for clock time.
I both cases the mathematics is identical. You sketch the graph of your data, pick three representative points on your curve and plug them into the form of your model, giving you three equations to solve for the parameters a, b and c.

If you want to send me your work on one of the depth vs. time models, then send your best attempt at a temperature vs. time model, I can give you more detailed feedback.
