t-naught, v-naught and t sub-f, v sub-f represent two events and give you a measurable interval. Delta t = run between two points and delta v = rise between them, so the slope yields a-bar. You can also make a calculated guess as the average velocity, assuming the velocity doesn't deviate much from the straight line connecting the two endpoints of the interval.

If you know v0, vf, t0 and tf there is no ambiguity about average velocity.

However unless you know that acceleration is uniform, your inference of the displacement during this interval would be an approximation.
