BUSINESS MANAGER
The Business Manager reports to the Vice President of Financial and
Administrative Services (VP of F&AS) and has responsibilities including the
following:
1. Receiving and handling all cash and other revenues in accordance with
established policies and procedures.
2. Maintaining appropriate accounting procedures for all Federal, state, local,
and bookstore funds.
3. Providing assistance to all departments of the College in the purchasing of
goods and services. Must maintain Virginia Contracting Officer Certification.
4. Assisting College personnel in determining compliance of transactions within
state and college policies.
5. Managing the Federal cash flow and reporting of Federal grants and contracts.
6. Serving as the Chief Fiscal Officer with all signatory authority, in the
absence of the VP of F&AS.
7. Issuing and receiving keys and access cards to College properties and
maintaining appropriate records of all transactions.
8. Keeping records and making monthly reports of the use of state-owned and
college-owned vehicles. Serving as Transportation Officer for the College.
9. Issuing salary and travel advances and other disbursements from Federal,
state petty-cash, or local funds, in accordance with established policies and
procedures.
10. Supervising the operation of the College Switchboard/Receptionist/Mail
Service.
11. Reviewing all contracts before submitting them to the VP of F&AS or
President for signature.
12. Serving as the Surplus Property Coordinator for the College.
13. Participating in institutional effectiveness activities and processes when
requested including, but not limited to: strategic planning, college-wide
surveys, and related workshops/seminars; and implementing appropriate
institutional effectiveness processes related to business office services
including, but not limited to, annual departmental planning and evaluation
cycles, using a variety of measures and institutional data to improve programs
and processes as determined necessary and appropriate.
14. Fulfilling such other functions as may be designated by the VP of F&AS.
