RESEARCH AND ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST
The Research and Assessment Specialist reports to the Vice President of Institutional
Advancement and provides support in the following areas: 1) data collection,
synthesis, and entry-level analysis; 2) institutional effectiveness planning and
evaluation; 3) assistance with program reviews and student outcomes assessment
studies; and 4) development of institutional research reports. Specific
responsibilities include the following:
- Maintaining assigned research and assessment databases.
- Tracking current and former students’ educational/employment progress
for institutional reporting purposes.
- Designing institutional research reports using clear language, tables
and charts and communicating results to internal and external audiences.
- Implementing ongoing institutional surveys such as, but not limited to,
the Graduating Student Questionnaire and the Graduate Follow-up Survey, and
other assessment studies as requested; synthesizing data from the studies;
and performing entry-level analysis.
- Assisting in collecting and providing data to faculty and staff for
program review, student outcomes assessment reporting, and unit planning and
evaluation.
- Tracking transfer data from four-year colleges and universities.
- Maintaining PAS (Productivity Analysis System) data including
institutional entries/uploads/downloads, reporting to VCCS, and reconciling
SIS/PAS data.
- Participating in institutional effectiveness activities and processes
including, but not limited to: strategic planning, college-wide surveys, and
related workshops/seminars; and implementing appropriate institutional
effectiveness processes within the division including, but not limited to,
annual departmental planning and evaluation cycles, using a variety of
measures and institutional data to improve programs and processes as
determined necessary and appropriate.
- Performing other research-related duties as assigned by the Vice
President of
Institutional Advancement.
