Purpose(s): The Student Affairs Committee is charged with advising the President of the College on matters relevant to Equal Opportunity Employment issues as well as developing and assisting in the implementation of an Affirmative Action component, as related to the College and its students.
The Committee is responsible for overseeing the College’s substance abuse policies. A further charge is that of advising the President of the College on matters relevant to the development and implementation of the program for assuring access to the physically handicapped students.
The Committee is charged with advising the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services on matters related to student life. Matters for consideration may be referred to the Student Affairs Committee by the President of the College or by any member of the Committee. This Committee has the responsibility of approving new student organizations and of advising the academic counselors and the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services on matters related to College activities and organizations.
The Student Affairs Committee also conducts hearings, determines facts, judges guilt or innocence, and recommends to the President of the College disposition of cases involving grade appeals and alleged serious misconduct of a student as provided for in student conduct or judiciary regulations.

The Committee shall select a chairman from among its membership. One of the academic counselors shall be permanent secretary of the Committee and shall be ineligible for the Committee chairmanship.
Meeting Schedule: Normally this Committee will meet the first Thursday of each month unless there are no agenda items.
