Problem Sets
The Introductory Problem Sets consist of solved problems. You are to
completely master these problems at the level appropriate to your course. Problems
from these sets will be included on tests.
- Principles of Physics (Physics 121-122) students need to be able to solve each
problem and document and explain the solution.
- General College Physics (Physics 201-202) students must be able to solve each
problem, completely document and explain the solution, and generalize the solution.
- University Physics (Physics 241, 242, 231, 232) students must demonstrate
complete mastery of each problem, including all types of solutions, diagrams or figures,
and all the nuances of the solution.
The Randomized Problems are to be selected at random, as specified, and solved
in detail.
- The 'questionnaire' program will quiz you after you have solved the problem.
- This program will record the time between your responses, so the instructor will
be able to tell if you used the program to help 'step' you through the problem. Be
sure you have completed your solution before you begin to give your answers.
- If you do poorly you will be given constructive feedback and another chance to
solve a problem in the same general category, with only a minor penalty (the penalty is 1
point on a 10-point problem).
You will be graded on your work on those text problems required for submission.
- You will be given constructive feedback on problems which are not completely
correct.
- If you lose points on a problem you may regain some of the lost points by
submitting a revised solution.
