what we need in submitted works

Question:

Do you just want the answers or do you want to see how we worked at the problems?

Do we work the word problems too?

Answer:

The problems you submit should contain complete solutions with full explanations of everything you did and why.

Your responses should make it clear what your starting information is and how you get from there to your solutions.

You don't need to completely restate the problem, but I should be able to evaluate your work without having to consult my textbook (I am familiar with the problems that don't remember specific details on all problems).
The reason for this is that twofold:

I only have one copy of the text and I evaluate your work as soon as I get it, and

you need to practice the sort of communication implicit in this request.

If you do not provide sufficient information I will usually not be able to respond promptly to your work.

In answer to the second question, if it has the right number, do it. The 'word problems' are the core the course.
