Assignment 03
This assignment is focused on reasoning out the relationships among initial and final velocity, displacement, time interval and acceleration, in terms of the definitions of velocity and acceleration. It then addresses graphical and symbolic representation of this reasoning.
Precision and accuracy of observation are also explored in the lab exercise.
In this assignment you will address the following through the Introductory Problem Set, 'Seed' questions, and the q_a_ document.
For uniformly accelerated motion on an interval:
In the Class Notes you will learn to construct and apply trapezoidal approximation graphs to the motion of an object.
In the lab activity 'Measuring distortion of Paper Rulers you will apply the concepts of accuracy and precision, as well as conversion between different units.
In the text and in a q_a-type exercise on units of volume, you will learn more about the units of length, area, volume, and the conversion of units. Additional text problems will be assigned.
In a 'seed' question you will deal with the important concept of midpoint clock times related to a series of short time intervals.
You will continue to develop the concept and apply the definition of rate of change, as well as the graphical representation and interpretation of 'graph trapezoids'.
