Assignment 05

The equations of uniformly accelerated motion are introduced, as is the concept of reasoning by use of a 'flow diagram'.  The 'pearl pendulum' is introduced as a timing device.

In the qa you will continue reasoning, symbolizing and analyzing uniformly accelerated motion.

The Introductory Problem Set assignment introduces the equations of uniformly accelerated motion, and the use of 'flow diagrams' as an aid in thinking through problems.

There are two laboratory exercises.  The first will introduce the 'pearl pendulum' as a timing device.  The second will ask you to time a ball rolling down a ramp, as accurately as possible, and analyze the accuracy of the measurement and its uncertainty.

Additional text questions, many related to the process of estimation as covered in the first chapter, will be assigned.

Note that while you are working through Chapter 1 in the text, much of your current work will result in extensive preparation for the upcoming Chapter 2.  As a result of this preparation you should find Chapter 2 very accessible, when we come to it.
