Note that in order to register for a course you must be a VHCC student.  If you have not submitted a VHCC application you will need to do so.  Instructions are at the VHCC homepage http://www.vhcc.edu/.

It is recommended that you read the information below prior to filling out the form.  Click on this link to access the Enrollment Request Form.

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

Registration is conducted online, according to instructions in the VHCC schedule and on the VHCC homepage ( www.vhcc.edu ).

On this homepage you will find instructions for registration.  Instructions for registration are summarized below under Summary of Registration Procedures, but the VHCC homepage is the authority and the instructions posted there take precedence over the instructions posted at this link.

The online registration system often does not allow students to register for courses, even though prerequisites are met.  In this case you need to contact the instructor by filling out the Enrollment Request Form.

In some cases the system will show a time conflict.  Since there are no regularly scheduled meetings there can't really be a time conflict, but this is another problem with the system, and when it occurs we have to override the system.  If the system does not allow you to register due to a time conflict, email the instructor as indicated below.

If you are registering for a Physics course the system tends to behave even worse than for other courses.  See the instructions below under Registering For A Physics Course.

IF THE SYSTEM WILL NOT REGISTER YOU, USE THE Enrollment Request Form.  The form is self-explanatory.  Just click on the link and follow the instructions.

REGISTERING FOR A PHYSICS COURSE

Students adding any lab science course to their schedule must make sure that they are registering for the lab with the lecture by updating the attributes or the class will not add successfully. Once the lecture course is selected, they have to choose the related class. Instructions on page 3 of the class schedule.

Note that the system behaves particularly badly for students who attempt to enroll in a physics course.  If you are attempting to enroll for a physics course, you will almost certainly need to go throug the Enrollment Request Form as describe above.

SUMMARY OF REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:

First use the published instructions:  The instructions given here summarize the process and are at the time of posting valid, but these processes are subject to change without the instructor's knowledge.  You should refer first to the instructions on the VHCC schedule and on the VHCC homepage.

Find your EMPLID# and password:  If you are a first-time student you will need to find your EMPLID#.  On the VHCC homepage click on My VHCC, click on Login, then click on EmplID/Customer ID and Password Help to find your EMPLID.  Your student ID# will probably be your Social Security Number, but check published instructions to make sure.

Once you have your EMPLID# and password (your password is your birthdate, for example for 5/14/85 you would use 051485) you can log in and register.

Log In and Register:  Login > enter EMPLID > enter password > for students > enrollment > enrollment and select academic career – choose CREDIT > select term >> choose the correct semester > click search then scroll down to add classes to this schedule > advanced search then enter two criteria in the data fields.

For example, for the subject area choose a three letter discipline prefix.  For the second field choose course career—select credit.  Now select the course you want by clicking on the links that reference the course.  To add more classes click on insert class and repeat the process.

When your enrollment is complete click on continue and submit request.
