Solution

Solution: In .5600 seconds the horizontally moving object, traveling at 77 m/s, will travel ( 77 m/s)( .5600 sec) = 43.12 m. The falling object will attain a speed of (9.8 m/s/s)( .5600 sec) = 5.488 m/s; its average speed will be (0+ 5.488 m/s)/2 = 2.744 m/s, and its distance will be ( 2.744 m/s)( .5600 sec) = 1.536 m.
